Pre-conference The Cancer Council Helpline Classic is the prologue to the Tour Down Under and will be held on Sunday 17 January in Rymill Park (in the City's East End), from 4:15pm to 5:30pm (ETA).

This is an ideal opportunity for delegates arriving in Adelaide on the Sunday before the Conference to soak up some of the Tour Down Under vibe.  To find the East End, travel east down the Rundle Street Mall (i.e. away from the tram line) until you run out of City; or just follow the buzz!!

While East End restaurants will probably be overflowing, there are plenty of other dining options in the City, including in the popular dining strips of Gouger Street, Melbourne Street, O'Connell Street and Hutt Street; in nearby inner-City suburbs such as along The Parade in Norwood or King William Street in Unley; or along the coastal suburbs, such as Glenelg.

See the SA tourism website for more information.

Pre-conference bike ride Ride Like Crazy is a ride to help raise funds to fight cancer.  The ride, which is supported by the South Australian Police, was established by colleagues and friends of Senior Sargeant Mick "Crazy" Koerner, who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in 2008.

Ride Like Crazy is a supported ride through the Adelaide Hills, with a full-length option of 109km and a half-length option of 53km.  The ride takes place on Sunday 17 January in 2010.

Conference dinner The conference dinner is an opportunity to network with conference delegates and speakers from a diverse background.

The dinner will be held on the evening of Monday, 18 January 2010, at Rundle Spices Noodle Bar and Restaurant in Rundle Street - a short walk (and shorter ride) from the conference venue, in the popular East End of Adelaide.  Rundle Spices serves Thai and Asian cuisine, in a casual atmosphere.  The upstairs area has been reserved for Conference delegates.

Spices offers banquet and a la carte menu options.  The cost of a banquet option would be up to $30, excluding drinks.

The dinner is optional and not included in the registration fee.  Limited spaces will be available and delegates will be asked to confirm whether or not they will be attending the dinner by noon on the first day of the conference.  Please also advise of any special dietary needs.

Tour Down Under The first stop on the world cycle racing calendar, the Santos Tour Down Under, kicks off the cycling year in exhilarating style in Adelaide.

Not just a bike race, the Santos Tour Down Under is a festival of cycling, with a range of associated events and festivals that create a massive party atmosphere across South Australia.

Amateur cyclists can also get involved in the action, with the Skoda Breakaway Series, which gives people the chance to ride part of the ProTour race route.

Adelaide City Bikes Australia's only operational public bicycle hire scheme, City Bikes, operates in Adelaide City Council.  Visit a City Bikes node and leave your driver's license to hire a bike for the day - at no cost.

Kona's "Africa bikes" are recent additions to the City Bikes fleet, with a practical and distinctive design - and although they may remind users more of Holland than Africa, part of the purchase price for these bikes goes towards supporting the distribution of the bikes in Africa, to aid various health and development projects.

Ausbike Trade Show The proposed 2010 Ausbike Trade Show has been postponed.  A 2011 Ausbike Trade Show is planned to coincide with the 2011 Santos Tour Down Under.

Time limitations and a lack of accommodation available during the MTB Championships and Santos Tour Down Under have Led to the decision, which is intended to ensure that the event will be successful for exhibitors and the public.  Building projects underway to meet the influx of visitors to the City of Adelaide caused by the Santos Tour Down Under are hoped to ease the accommodation situation in 2011.
